When you sing together with others, something magical happens. To be honest, we can’t quite explain why. Luckily, plenty of scientific research has. And it shows that singing together lowers stress levels, boosts your mood, and makes you feel more connected to the people around you.
That’s because your heartbeat, breathing, and even your brainwaves sync up with the group. Your voice, body, and mind literally tune in to those around you — and that’s where that sense of connection comes from.
Whether you’ve been singing for years or it’s your very first time joining a choir, it doesn’t matter. With us, everyone is welcome — no matter your level.
What to expect
In our singing choirs, the focus is really on the joy of singing together in harmony, with a fun and well known repertoire of pop songs.
We like to keep up a good pace. Especially at the start of the year, each lesson begins fresh with a new song. Together we work on it as far as we can take it. At the end of the lesson, we always make a recording of what we’ve created, so you go home with the feeling that you built something together that didn’t exist at the start of the class. And trust us: that feels great.
As the year goes on, we may (if you’d like) pick a few favorite songs to polish up and work towards a performance at the end of the season.
No homework, no hassle with printing lyrics or preparing parts. The teacher arranges the music and has the lyrics ready for you. All you need to do is sing along and enjoy. And if you have a fun idea for a song? Bring it to the group, we love that!

How we work (and why)
Our singing choirs are designed as ongoing groups where you share a musical year together. We gradually build up a repertoire, work towards a performance, and grow closer as a group along the way. Your regular lesson slot is weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the choir.
It’s not that you have to start at the very beginning of the year. You can also join later. And if you happen to have a busy period or are out of the country: no stress. With us, you can always cancel per two-month block. But by sticking with it, you give yourself (and your group) the chance to really build something together.
We’ve only just moved into our new spaces at Surinameplein and we can’t wait to expand our singing choir program in the coming months, so that soon, there will be a choir for everyone. Check out our current choirs, new courses, and open lessons below.
CHoir Essentials (what you need to know)
Locations
All choirs rehearse at our main location at Surinameplein in Amsterdam. Easily accessible by public transport, bike, and car.
Group Size
Our choirs have space for a maximum of 20 people. When starting a new choir, the group may be a bit smaller at first.
Duration
The choir lessons are 75 minutes long
Language
We offer both Dutch- and English-language choirs. Our English groups are led by a native speaker.
