Sunday Superchoir Workshops

One Sunday afternoon, one song, one really. Big. Choir. Come and feel the magic of singing together at our choir workshop in Amsterdam.

Who are these workshops for?

This choir workshop is for anyone who feels like singing. You don’t need any experience, you don’t need to be able to read sheet music, and you don’t need to know whether you’re a high or a low voice. We’ll figure that out together during the workshop.

Already singing (with us)? Whether you take private lessons or you’re already in one of our choirs: this is your chance to hear your voice in a big group. You’ll also meet singers from our other lessons and choirs.

Never sung (in a choir) before? Then this is an afternoon worth experiencing! It’s also the easiest way to find out whether singing together is your thing. If you’d like to sing in a choir more often afterwards, we’re happy to help you find the choir that fits you best.

what to expect?

The workshop is led by two or three of our singing teachers. After a cup of coffee or tea, we’ll warm up our voices with a few simple exercises. Then we get to work! The focus of this workshop is really on singing together, in harmony. We won’t go into vocal technique in detail. We’ll build the song up step by step, and with that many voices, it sounds impressive no matter what.

A week beforehand we’ll send you the song so you can have a listen. Other than that, there’s nothing to prepare: our experienced teachers will guide you through all the parts at the group’s own pace.

FAQ

Yes, come! Honestly: if there’s one place to start, it’s in a big group. You’ve got the teachers to lean on, and the rest of the group as well. You never have to sing anything on your own, you can simply join in and sing along!

No, absolutely not. During this workshop we teach you the parts by ear (we sing them to you). We do have sheet music available for anyone who likes to read along. In practice, participants who can’t read music often find it a handy visual anchor too.

No, you don’t need to know that beforehand. We’ll go through all the parts together and you pick whichever one feels best to sing. Our arrangements have parts for every kind of voice, from low to high.

Well-known pop hits, just like in our choirs. For a special edition (Echt Amsterdams, Mother’s Day) we pick something that suits the occasion. You’ll hear which song it is a week beforehand.

We switch between Dutch and English, depending on what the participants need. So you don’t have to speak Dutch to join in.

At BuurtHub SUP on Surinameplein. It’s not our own lesson room, but a bigger hall in the same building, right above Café Chef.

Trams 1 and 17 stop at the door, and on Sundays you can park on the street for free. Or you just come by bike, the old-fashioned way, of course 🙂

Refunds aren’t possible. Can’t make it after all? You can pass your ticket on to someone else, so your spot doesn’t go to waste.
